A boy called Seth drowns, desperate and alone in his final moments, losing his life as the pounding sea claims him. But then he wakes. How is that possible? And where is this place? It looks like the suburban English town where he lived as a child, before an unthinkable tragedy happened and his family moved to America. But the neighbourhood around his old house is overgrown, covered in dust and completely abandoned. What's going on?

I've heard great things about Patrick Ness, so I was eager to read one of his works. The first 100 pages I had to force myself to read and from then on there were times where I couldn't put the book down and times where I had to force myself to continue reading it. The last 100 pages, for me, where the best and I raced through them. I hate having to force myself to read a book for the sake of reading it and finishing it. However, I did really enjoy reading this book and I would recommend this book but I must admit there were dry parts. I like how confusing and in depth this book is. Two polar opposites to describe the story. I like how I'm still confused as to what happened and why. I enjoy the feeling the book gave me when I finished it. It's a book that leaves you confused but that's the aim of it. A unique and wonderful read to everyone :) 3.5 stars/5 stars
