Very inconsistent language with some very vivid and atmospheric descriptions, some precise use of words interspersed with very juvenile passages and ‘dumps’ of sudden information. On the whole we found the plot derivative and unrealistic. We were divided about our liking and empathy for the main character with some of us engaged but others not. There were nuggets of information and interest in the book but it didn’t gell as a whole. Sadly the main praise for the book was that it was short.
