The Friends of the Durning Library
The Friends of the Durning Library support and promote the work of the Durning as well as Lambeth’s wider library service. We were founded in 1999 when the Durning was one of five libraries in Lambeth under threat of closure. We contributed to a major campaign to save those libraries.
We hold monthly talks in the Durning Library, usually by local speakers or on topics of local interest. Our talks are normally at 6.45 for 7.15 pm on the third Monday of the month, and everyone is welcome. They are currently given online at 7.00 pm but we plan to resume live talks with refreshments as soon as circumstances allow. Details of our talks are given on Lambeth Libraries’ website: www.lambeth.gov.uk/events. We also support the library in other ways such as arranging one-off events and contributing to children’s events, through liaising with the Durning Library staff.
