Home Library Service
Lambeth’s Home Library Service will bring books to your home if you are having difficulty using your local library because of disability, age or full-time caring responsibilities. This service is also available on a short-term basis if you have had an illness or accident and cannot visit the library while you are recovering.
How does it work?
One of our librarians will visit you to find out what you enjoy reading and will then choose books based on what you like. If you have not read for a while we can recommend books to get you back into reading. We will visit you every three weeks with up to 20 items, depending on how many books you want. We also loan e-books, e-audio books, DVDs and jigsaws. If you have a visual impairment we have a wide range of large print books and books on CD. The service is totally free for Lambeth residents and there are no age restrictions. You do not need to be a library member already.
How can I apply or get this service for myself or on behalf of someone else?
You can apply for the service or find out more in any of the following ways:
- phone 020 7926 8335 Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm
- speak to your local library and they will get the Home Library staff to contact you.
Day centres, residential and nursing homes and homeless hostels
We also provide collections of books for residential settings, day centres and hostels. The books are changed every three months and are tailored to your residents and users. Please email us LibraryOutreachService@lambeth.gov.uk if you would like to have this service.
